THE MAN ABOUT TOWN: By David Owen
Mower-free advice for working in the yard. Unlike David Toms in that PGA Tour commercial, I don’t hit shots at my house on purpose. Accidents happen, though. I’ve broken nearly every window and cracked the windshield of my wife’s car. To maintain domestic peace, I tried many alternatives to real golf balls. Recently, I found something much better. It’s a resilient practice ball made by a company called almostGolf.

FOR THE GOLFER WHO DOESN’T QUITE HAVE EVERYTHING
Golfers love gadgets and they are constantly on the lookout for anything that can improve their game, even if ever so slightly. The Point3 golf ball- made by almostGOLF- is soft enough to be used in backyards or for pitching practice into, say, a bedroom curtain for those truly golf-obsessed.

almostGOLF OUT MANEUVERS HOLLOW PRACTICE BALLS
There is no way a hollow plastic golf ball can give you a true feedback on a golf shot. However, the new Point3 golf ball has a solid core, internal pressure and is perfectly weighed to travel, spin and fly limited distance.

PRACTICE BALL OFFERS MANY OPPORTUNITIES
How does a little practice ball get marketed globally? “The ball is really unique,” said Durkin (COO). “We knew it was a great product, but we just had to find new markets for it.” Currently the balls are used in over 4,000 schools and one of the coups for the company was to get noted golf instructor and short-game guru Dave Pelz involved with the balls.

GOLF’S LIGHTER BRIGHTER FUTURE:
I have seen the future of golf, and it is, well, light. It is the almostGOLF ball that has achieved the most early success in a critical area of golf: Growing the game. These limited distance balls are being used in school golf programs, where they attract many kids who otherwise would have no exposure to golf. Because the balls are easy to hit in the air, kids are discovering that golf is fun.

BEST PRODUCT THAT WILL IMPACT THE FUTURE OF GOLF
almostGOLF’s goals include bringing new golfers to the game. “It is a young, hip way to grow the game of golf,” Peterson said. “This to me is a double outreach for The First Tee or Golf 20/20.” Playing with this ball is so much fun that an impromptu long drive contest broke out at the Orange County Convention Center after the PGA merchandise show.

PRACTICE EVERYDAY THE TIGER WAY
Practice makes perfect and Tiger is a perfect example of this truism. How about once, just for once, can’t we just practice golf when it comes to spin, fades, draws and golf swings without having to pay $10 a bucket at the local range? Invented for that purpose and touted as The Ultimate Practice Golf Ball, Almost Golf is the first limited distance golf ball with true flight characteristics…At a local park near my home I hit a dozen golf balls with my wedges and had a blast of fun and practice. You can too.

almostGOLF BALLS’ BOUNCE AND DURABILITY ARE SUPERB
The pitch on the side of the box claims this is the “ultimate offcourse practice ball.” For once, the manufacturer didn’t overstate the case. AlmostGolf Balls are the real thing. The flight mimics that of a real ball, without the danger that golfers on the backyard practice range will break windows, ding cars or carom of the neighbor’s head. Trying to make sure we weren’t seeing something that wasn’t there, we took a handful of AlmostGolf Balls to St. Augustine’s Golf Club had a few random players try them out. Everyone who tried them liked them.

GOLF MAGAZINE: HOW TO HIT THE SWEET SPOT
Obtain a three foot long two by four which allows you to do this drill in your backyard without breaking windows. (In fact, I don't recommend you initially try this drill with regular balls) Ami the board at a target about 20 yards away. Place one almostGolf ball two inches inside the board and eight inches away from the target-side end of the board.
This article will give you a framing mechanism so that you have not choice but to hit the ball on the sweet spot.

PRACTICE YOUR GOLF GAME ANYWHERE WITH THE NEW ALMOSTGOLF BALL:
The new almostGolf ball can turn any RV park into a putting green, chipping area or driving range. The beauty of this amazing new golf ball is it’s versatility. “This gives less experienced golfers an opportunity to practice without being intimidated by peer pressure from other golfers. The cross linked foam construction allows the ball to compress slightly on impact, but immediately resumes it's shape. This gives the ball real pop off the club face and long lasting durability. It also makes the ball safe for practice in many situations.

LEANING A LITTLE LEFT OF CENTER:
The highlight of the PGA Show :
A highlight of the show was bumping into the mad surfer dude Rob who runs the almostgolfers tour. He is convinced that his college tour is going to be ‘huge’. “It’s like Tony Hawke meets Shaun Micheel. It also means that you can play almostGolf almost anywhere without fear of causing mayhem and distruction. It’s a great idea for office golfers…
