THE BIRTH OF A NEW SPORT IN GOLF: Welcome to the almostGOLF website and tour blog. We are very excited about the re - launch of our website/blog. It is a complete departure from our previous 'product driven' website because we've received so many emails and clips from people are around the world showing all kinds of rad things they are doing with our ball. So , it seemed like it was time we showed you what they are doing and share with you all the ways you can play golf virtually anywhere. Here is our agenda for the 2008 season as well as our mission for the Tour Blog.
2008 COLLEGE almostGOLF TOUR: We are launching the first ever, College almostGolf Tour played through college campuses, stadiums, fields...everywhere! It launches this weekend, March 28-29th at USC (University of Southern California...Go Trojans!) here in sunny Los Angeles. After this, we will be doing from 8-12 events through the spring, summer and fall. We will provide dates once we get them firmed up.
OFF-COURSE GOLF NATIONALS: We will finish our 2008 season with our first Off-Course Golf National Championships. This will be an open event for anyone who wants to compete. You may not be able to get into the US OPEN, but you may be able to play in the ALMOST OPEN.
2008 EUROPEAN TOUR: We definitely have to talk about our European partners. They will be putting on anywhere from 10-20 events throughout Belgium, Holland, France, Germany, UK, Spain, and Poland.
EUROPEAN GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS: We must give a shout out to friends in Nimes, France. They will be holding the first StreetGolf European Championships. Combine their championships and our championships and we may be looking at a possible 'almost-Ryder Cup' event in the next year or so.
WHAT THIS BLOG IS ALL ABOUT: Beyond showing you highlights of events, we will be putting up 'How To' clips on
everything including PRACTICE TIPS from Dave Pelz designed to help you lower your scores. We will also open up a whole new world of off-the-golf-course play with tips on almostGolf COURSE DESIGN, EVENT DESIGN, and Charity event design. Small to mid-sized schools, clubs and teams can raise an amazing amount of money without a whole lot of work. The best part is that since you are doing these events around your own school campus, park or neighborhood, every charity dollar you raise goes back to your charitable cause and that is completely revolutionary for golf. We are aware how hard it is to raise money for your charity and almostGolf events are so easy to produce, they make putting on a tournament fun.
HOW TO OPEN SOURCE GOLF AND THIS NEW SPORT: If you are into playing golf off-course or you are into StreetGolf, urbanGolf or Crossgolf , sign up for our FACEBOOK, MYSPACE pages or our ALMOSTGOLF NETWORK Newsletter and definitely participate. Give us your comments, send us your clips and help us create a whole new sport.
