WHO IS ALMOSTGOLF?
HISTORY: The almostGolf concept came about in 2001 when Rob Peterson held a golf tournament played through the campus of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. It was played with a blown plastic practice ball that was injected with foam insulation and dipped in tool handle rubber. The ball barely worked, but everyone had a blast. From the success of this event and others, it was realized that an opportunity existed to expose more people to the game of golf in a non-traditional way by making the game more accessible, unintimidating, safe, and fun for everyone who wants to experience golf. After years of relentless R&D, the almostGOLF ball was finally ready for market. In early 2005, the company launched, manufacturing and marketing of the first true performance off-course neighborhood safe, ‘play anywhere' ball in golf.
Today: The Culver City, CA based company continues to strive towards the goal established from the start. By eliminating the traditional barriers of entry: time, money, access, and travel we have exposed tens of thousands more people to the game of golf, most who normally would never have had a chance to try the game. In 2008, we started our own grow the game initiative, the almostGOLF College Tour. The Tour involves visiting college and university campuses across America to promote the game of golf. It’s no secret that one of the keys to growing the game is getting kids and young adults exposed to and interested, so we take the game right to them.The PGA, The First Tee, and the Tiger Woods Foundation are reaching kids through their own programs based at their learning facilities. We are aware that some facilities are using the almostGOLF ball in their programs already, so we are hopeful these organizations will consider expanding their programs more rapidly by taking the game directly to school gyms, parks and playing fields. By having the ability to play and practice anywhere, the almostGOLF ball takes away the necessity and investment requirement of building a golf facility.
