USC
PARENTS WEEKEND
DEMO DAY
Parents weekend is a big deal on the campus of USC. The campus seemed to double with the number of families walking around and checking out the buildings and events. Since our CGA Demo day was being held in the central McCarthy Quad, that ment instead of a few people walking back and forth across our 'driving range', it was an ocean of people walking across. Some folks thought we were hitting real balls, which is kind of silly if you know anything about how far golf balls really fly, their sound and danger, but most just looked at the balls bouncing over and past them and smiled, thinking it was 'one of those crazy things college students do'.
For the surprising abundent parent-golfers we were an absolute playground. We definately scratched their golf itch. Some were waiting for their kids to get out of class or they'd had their fill of walking around looking at beautiful buildings. So when they stumbled upon us, they went nuts. Some parents played so much we had to tell them that there were other 'kids' waiting to play. It definately gave us some ideas about having a parent-student-alumni tournament down the road. There is nothing like being able to hit balls when you are hanging around campus.
