almostGOLF Turns Heads and Draws a Crowd at Seton Hall University Day

This event turned out to be one of the most unique and popular stops on the Fall Tour due to the small, heavy traffic area we had to use, the other activities going on around us and the large turnout of willing and enthusiastic participants of all ages...from 3 yrs to 60+.

Our tour stop was part of University Day which is held on the Saturday of Parents Weekend and is used to bring together current students, alumni and the surrounding community that is involved with the University on a day to day basis. AlmostGOLF was invited to come to campus to hitting-golf-balls.jpgadd a new wrinkle and give the adults a fun activity to try while their kids played on the inflatable rides...at least that's what we anticipated would be the case.

We set up our on campus driving range where participants had the opportunity to hit some shots and then try their hand at hitting our inflatable targets for a variety of prizes (see photo?). The 3 station driving range was on a relatively small field and was flanked by an ALL GLASS ATRIUM on the right and giant inflatable rides to the left. We had plenty of people asking "What the heck are you doing hitting golf balls with so many people around?" and flash a look of panic as they watched an errant shot fly directly towards the glass atrium. That look would then turn to surprise and relief as the ball just bounced off without causing any damage, prompting the inevitable questions: "What is that ball made of?" and "Can I hit some?"

Among the large turnout, were members of the varsity baseball team who took turns making fun of their fellow team member who couldn't get a ball in the air, let alone hit one of the targets, and they all got a laugh when we pointed out that they couldn't hit a ball that's not even moving.

Hitting-golf-balls-at-glass.jpgAs long lines formed for people to take their turn, we repeatedly had to drag kids away to let someone else try. Some of the kids liked it some much they didn't want to leave the event even when it was starting to get dark.  Benji, one of our Tour Reps and I must have given over 150 five minute lessons to people of all skill levels especially juniors. Once they caught on and figured out that our balls were safe and really do have true ball flight, there was lots of discussion amongst the parents and students saying: "We could setup a course in our yard." and "Where can we buy your golf balls?".

The Shot of the Day: If you don't think we put our money where our mouth is, or at least our employees...Benji, performed a real life demonstration of almostGOLF safety. While out in on the range shagging balls and in front of about 150 people, he got hit right in the head by a low line drive shot. Everyone who saw it gasped with shock and could not believe that he was okay and just kept picking up balls. Yes, there is truth in our advertising, the ALMOSTGOLF ball is safe as well as fun to hit.
