OVERVIEW: A NEW WAY TO FUNDRAISE: With the creation of the off-course safe almostGolf ball, these are exciting times for charity golf fundraising because you can now bring low cost charity golf events onto hundreds of thousands of high school and elementary school playing fields and campuses safely and effectively to help raise needed funds while building campus community and involvement.

By simplifying the golf fundraising process by using the Golfathon model and bringing the ‘golf tournaments' on-campus, almostGolf-a-thons are the best and most cost effective way for primary, secondary school clubs and teams to
raise between $3,000 - $30,000 dollars in just one day!

......AND WHEN YOU OWN THE GOLF COURSE: Every dollar goes to your charity!

Your Charity golf tournaments can be safely played around your high school or college campus, par or  playing fields. They are no harder to create than a disc Golf Event. All you need are some almostGOLF balls, mats, targets and your own creativity, because you and your players create the course.

ALMOSTGOLF CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENTS BUILDS ON-CAMPUS AWARENESS:
When you create charity golfathons that involve everyone on campus from your golf club or team - students - other athletes - parents - alumni you now have the needed on-campus exposure to develop talent.

          WHAT IS AN ALMOSTGOLF-A-THON?

It is modeled after the highly effective ‘walkathon' charity model. Players simply sign up donors at .25 cents to $5 per hole, design their campus/playing field friendly ‘disc golf' type course (one club - 9 iron perferred) and play as many holes as they can. This makes your charity golf tournament simple to produce, social, inexpensive and fun to participate in. Best of all, because you own the ‘couse' every dollar you raise goes straight to your cause!
                        THE PRINCIPLE: easy to donate

AlmostGOLF CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENTS MAKE IT EASY AND AFFORDABLE TO DONATE:
By having players ask for small donations from many contributors, it is a great deal easier for them to drive your charity fundraising efforts. Vs. having to ask for a lot of money from a select few. This makes charity fundraising effortless and attainable by younger players and participants.

                        THE PROCESS:  easy to play

Your players/participants just need to go home with their sign up sheets and sign up donors on a ‘dollar per hole' basis. They then create a 9-18 hole 'disc golf' type almost-Golf course around their school or playing field...and start playing.

THE MATH: easy to reach your financial goals

                  10 Players x 10 donors x $1 x 18 holes = $1,800
                  10 Players x 10 donors x $1 x 36 holes = $3,600
                  20 Players x 10 donors x $1 x 36 holes = $7,200
                  30 Players x 10 donors x $1 x 36 holes = $10,800
                  30 Players x 20 donors x $1 x 36 holes = $21,600
                  50 Players x 20 donors x $1 x 36 holes = $36,000

The almostGOLF Charity Golf Tournament Advantage: With relatively few players, a charity organization, club or team can raise a serious amount of money without the pressures and hastles of traditional golf fundraising models.

MORE CHARITY DOLLARS FOR YOUR PROGRAM: Since you own the venue, every dollar
you raise goes straight to your cause or school program.

ü      EASY AND INEXPENSIVE TO PRODUCE: Our charity golf tournaments are far easier to produce than traditional charity golf tournaments and since you are playing 'golf' around campus, far less expensive.

ü      INEXPENSIVE TO PLAY: Since you own your tournament venue, anyone can afford to play your charity golf tournament.

ü      CAMPUS INCLUSIVE: Now you can have everyone from students, alumni, teachers, parents and fellow athletes take part to raise money for your charity golf tournament and have fun doing it.

ü      EASY, EASY, EASY FUNDRAISING: almostGolf tournament fundraising is easy because your players or students are asking for a small amount of money from many people as opposed to a larger amount from a few like in traditional golf tournaments. This makes growing the event and getting people involved a whole lot easier.

ü FAR MORE SOCIAL: Since the courses are much smaller, there is a lot more interaction, community and spectator involvement.

ü     CHARITY GOLF COURSE DESIGN: Your golf team and alumni will have a blast designing the course or courses, depending on how big your campus is.

ü     ALUMNI EVENTS: On campus charoty golf tournaments are a great way to showcase the campus during alumni week and raise more charity dollars.

ü  ON-CAMPUS CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENTS HELP BUILD YOUR GOLF PROGRAM: The on-campus model can grow to allow the golf team to eventually develop a legitimate, top line golf tournament at their course of choice.

MORE CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT FUNDRAISING IDEAS:

How to get the most from your Charity golf tournament

Here are just a few tips to raise more charity cash with relatively little hassle and a work.

GOLF TOURNAMENT GOALS:
The goal of any Golf-a-thon is to raise as much money for your program or charity as you can with as little effort as possible. This means cutting out the painful process of extracting money from sponsors, gathering tee box prizes and/or charging a few participants/parents a large amount of money for a top notch charity event. The basic way to raise a lot of money is to get as many players/friends and family as you can to play as many holes as they can. This means, for the first time, golf team members can recruit their friends as well as their family, teachers and school alumni etc.

CHARITY GOLF EVENT FORMAT: To make your event simple, fast playing, spectator friendly and all about fun, we suggest one club tournaments (9 iron) where the courses are tight, creative and all about shot making. Combine this with a two player team or best bast ball format and you have fast play and a lot more people able to participate.

FUNDRAISING: Like a traditional walk-a-thon, each player takes a golfathon registration sheet home and signs up as many sponsors as they can. The golfathon sponsor agrees to donate a dollar amount per hole. (Anywhere from 25 cents to several dollars a hole)

EVERYONE CAN HELP RAISE THE MONEY: It’s important to note that more than just kids can play and raise money with a Golfathon. Parents, friends, teachers, non-golf students and alumni can all ‘take a sign up sheet’ home and participate. It’s easy and low pressure.

PLAYERS GOALS: The Golfathon player’s goal is simple: To get as many donors and to play as many holes as they can. Generally campus almostGolf courses are from 9-24 holes, depending on how big the school is. Since you can play a one or two club almostGolf course in one quarter the time of a traditional golf course, the players can play the course numerous times. Some golfathons can reach as far as 100 holes in a day, which is very doable with almostGolf.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT MORE
FUN:

There are numerous ways to make your charity golf events fun and involving while at the same time easy to produce and clean up. It's also important to note that the more fun you make your golfathon, the more likely it will grow in participation and charity clout.

MUSIC: Since your courses are a lot more compact, music is an easy way to keep the energy up.

CHARITY COURSE DESIGN:
There is no limit to how interesting, creative, social or challenging you can make your course. In fact, this is a great way to help your team bond by teaching them how to create and implement their own ‘golf’ course.

FUNDRAISING LUNCH TIME BBQ:
Everyone loves the smell of a funch time barbacue. It is also a revenue stream.

SPECATORS:
Since the almostGolf ball cannot hurt anyone sitting around the targets or 'greens', why not invite everyone you know to just come on down and have lunch and watch. Basically, Golfathons are a casual, fun way to catch up with friends and other familys and generally have a social time of it. This is very different than traditional golf tournaments.

ON COURSE PICNIC AREAS: Spectators can really make the difference. So why not allow friends and donors to picnic around the course. This is also a way to raise more dollars.

PRIZES:
To attract players you can put up fun prizes for low scores, most birdies, hole in ones, most money raised etc.

CREATING MAXIMUM IMPACT: To accommodate as many people as possible, you can also create morning and afternoon tee times for those who are not officially part of the almostGolf-a-thon, but want to donate and play. During lunch you can announce key stats like hole-in-ones and low scores.

SPEED OF PLAY: To speed up play, you can also make the golf-a-thon a competition to see how many holes a player or team can cover in a specific time period.

REGISTRATION: You can create a simple entry fee and registration for those kids and friends who just want to come out and play without raising money. This will help create awareness of your golf program and possibly recruit players down the road.
